Getting married in Florida is pretty simple. You and your fiance go to any Florida Clerk of Court, apply for Florida Marriage License, pay $93.50 and then you’re issued a Florida Marriage License and officially licensed to wed.
You’ve obtained your Florida Marriage License so now what?
For Florida residents there is a three day waiting period from date of license issued, unless premarital class attendance certification is provided at time of application, before the Marriage License is effective. If both you and your fiance are non-Florida residents you can be married the same day your Florida Marriage License is issued. Once your marriage license is effective you can get married!
The minimum requirement to have the marriage license legalized is for you both to meet with a Notary Public. The State of Florida does not require a ceremony or I do’s. You and your partner meet with a Florida Notary Public, the notary will notarize the marriage license, and you’ll have 10 days to return the marriage license to the Clerk of Court you obtained the license at. It’s not quite Las Vegas but if you’re looking for a simple way to get legally married this is it! We’ve been the notary for a Florida Marriage license many times. There’s all sorts of reasons why couples chose to simply have their Marriage License notarized and not do a ceremony. Whatever you want, we are happy to work with you. No judgement here 🙂
